All Saints-Publar Parish Church, Budapest, Hungary

This church, designed by architect István Szabó (who was also part of the congregation), was finished in 1977. It was constructed out of primarily bricks and concrete due to "financial restraints" impeding the resources available to Szabó; characteristic of European brutalism, the building's design was heavily impacted by the limitation of funds. In Hungary, it was the first church constructed during the communist era, and thus some of the time's restrictions impacted the building's design. For instance, the church's bells are located on a concrete beam instead of inside a tower, since constructing a church tower was not legal (Architectuul). The district had not had a church since the Second World War (Hungarian Architecture).

The church's brutalist characteristics include, as aforementioned, its cheap materials; drab colors; emphasis on geometry (blockiness, straight edges); and tall, imposing shapes.
